  • Monthly time-based data packages are available only for customers who have subscribed to this type of package before they upgraded to the AIS 3G 2100 network.  After you have used up your data allowance, you can subscribe to one-time add-on data packages (time-based or volume-based) and to data packages at regular prices.

Maximum speed limit for data package of AIS 3G 2100 is under NBTC regulation for standard data transfer quality, which limits data to no less than 345 Kbps. According to the speed-test standard, the SIM card must not be speed-limited from the provider, as a condition from the promotion or from the type of SIM card. The standard of quality for mobile devices concerning data usage is clearly defined by NBTC.

Section measurement process. Sub-subject 2.1 Process

A SIM card used for testing must not be speed limited by the licensed provider. For example, the amount of data used by a SIM card exceeds the amount of data usage set by the licensed provider or the SIM card is not registered to use maximum speed of data.

  • 8. What is Fair Usage Policy (FUP) ?
  • “Fair Usage policy” is a policy that results in the reduction of 3G speed after a user has reached the data limit. This policy has been implemented internationally to ensure that the quality of 3G service is equally provided to all users.

Fair usage policy is a standard for 3G data usage implemented by mobile carriers all over the world. This will prevent users who may use the data service for the wrong purpose, such as using a modem-modified phone to load BitTorrent files, which reduces overall speed for all 3G users. For quality assurance, AIS has implemented this policy to provide quality service to all customers.

The reason for the “Fair Usage Policy” implementation is that some users wrongly use the unlimited data packages with a modem-modified phone or Aircard to download BitTorrent files (BitTorrent is best used on ADSL line), which reduces overall speed for all internet users.

Based on these facts, the “Fair Usage Policy” is beneficial for all customers because they can choose their own data package to match their needs without paying as much as the heavy users.

  • 9. When I have reached my “Data Cap Max”* and still want to use data at max speed, is it possible to continue using data at max speed ?
  • You can continue using max speed of data under the conditions that you pay and subscribed to for your continued use of data at max speed. If you are an AIS 3G One-2-Call! customer, you have to pay 49 Baht per day for use. If you are an AIS 3G postpaid customer, you have to pay an additional 1,500 Baht per month for use. If you wish to continue using data at the max speed of 42 Mbps, please subscribe to the add-on data packages by calling *777.

*”Data Cap Max” is the amount of data allowance at 3G max speed of 42 Mbps. As you have seen in some 3G packages that mention about max 3G speed allowance, followed by the amount of data such as 1 GB, 2GB or 4GB. This means you can use data at max speed of 42 Mbps but with a specified amount. When exceeding the usage allowance, you can still use unlimited data but not at the max speed of 42 Mbps (upon/depending on package terms & conditions).

  • 10. In case I have subscribed to more than 1 data package, what would my data usage notifications look like?
  • You will be notified of the amount of data used on each data package that you have subscribed to.

  • 11. In case I leave the internet connection on, how much will I be charged?
  • We offer the Worry-Free Data service to help you watch over your domestic data usage when you leave the internet connection on.

If you are an AIS postpaid customer,

No matter you have a data package or not, you can leave your internet connection on as long as you like, and you will be charged not more than 1,500 Baht per month (VAT excluded). We monitor your data usage to not reach the 1,500 Baht limit per a billing cycle without subscription to this service. You can continue using data at the max speed of 256 Kbps without extra charge until the end of your billing cycle.

If you are an AIS 3G One-2-Call! customer,

No matter you have a data package or not, your data usage charge will not go over 49 Baht per day. We will cover you and there will be no extra charge when the data usage reaches 49 Baht per day (VAT excluded), and you can still have unlimited data access at the max speed of 384 Kbps.

If you wish to use data at the max speed of 42 Mbps, you can subscribe to any of our add-on data packages to increase your data speed.

Note: If your data usage does not reach 1,500 Baht per month (postpaid) or 49 Baht per day (prepaid), the usage fee will be based on the actual data usage. This service is limited for domestic use only. VAT, service fee, and other add-on package charges are excluded.

Yes, you can. When you are travelling out of AIS 3G 2100 coverage areas, you can still use data, but through the AIS 3G 900 MHz frequency. However, to use data via the 3G 900 network, you have to turn on data roaming on your phone. For more information on internet settings, visit http://www.ais.co.th/3g/setting3g.html or call *1800 for automatic settings.

Does AIS 3G 2100 offer timed-based data packages or speed limit packages at 64 Kbps or 256 Kbps? And do these packages meet the National Broadcasting Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) standards?

Monthly time-based data packages are available only for customers who have subscribed to this type of package before they upgraded to the AIS 3G 2100 network.

What is Fair Usage Policy (FUP) ?

“Fair Usage policy” is a policy that results in the reduction of 3G speed after a user has reached the data limit.

When I have reached my “Data Cap Max”* and still want to use data at max speed, is it possible to continue using data at max speed ?

You can continue using max speed of data under the conditions that you pay and subscribed to for your continued use of data at max speed.

In case I leave the internet connection on, how much will I be charged?

We offer the Worry-Free Data service to help you watch over your domestic data usage when you leave the internet connection on.
